Breath test advantages:

- noninvasive nature of the method which enables diagnostics in the cases when taking a biopsy sample for histology or other tests are contraindicated;
- relatively prompt acquisition of the diagnostic results - from 15-30 min (H. pylori test) to several hours (test on excessive growth of microflora of small intestine), to obtain the same results by alternative methods one needs up to several days.
- high sensitivity (up to 98% for H. pylori detection) and specificity ;
- breath test with stable isotope label is absolutely safe and can be used even for children and pregnant women;
- simplicity of test performance.

In that way the urea breath test can be the most preferable non-invasive method of eradication therapy monitoring and the most useful test at screening investigations.

One of the main advantages of H.pylori breath test lies in its ability to detect bacterium rapidly and accurately without any discomfort to patient. This test is preferable if it's necessary to carry out the whole series of tests as in the case of eradication therapy monitoring. Moreover the procedure of Helicobacter breath test is very simple .
